Smoking;The necessary evil

Image
Smoking is bad, they say. It will attack your lungs, incapacitate your heart, yellow your teeth. And once it’s gotten its fill, it will probably kill you too. But it has some advantages ,if we take a hard look at it .... Nowadays life is full of stress . Everyone is racing with time every day.To deal with such stress people resort to smoking at an early age .But if it is done at a limit which is less dangerous. then it helps to remove a lot of these and helps to refresh our mind and make us return to our work with high spirits . Smoking prevents diseases like ulcerative colitis also.A term used often is "smoke break" where 7-10 mins of organized puffing with collegeues can sometimes lead to interesting discussion. It can also help in egestion as the nicotine present helps in relaxation of the muscles in large intestine... So,What's the problem in continuing? As I have mentioned earlier..You have to smoke in "Limit" . But as it is stretched to the lev...

The Ghost of Victoria

Image
The place Dowhill is unknown to many. It is situated at the heart of Himalayas near the historical city of Darjeeling. Though Dowhill has a vast stretch of natural scenic beauty surrounding it but during the British era it was particularly famous for the schools and the education it provided. One of such school is Victoria Boys School. The stature of the school conveyed the rich architectural taste of the British, even after so many years of their departure, it has maintained the culture and the buildings with some inevitable maintenance.I, being somewhat frustrated with my job (studies to be precise) and with a need of some fresh air visited Dowhill. Umm…to tell the truth I was attracted by the stories surrounding the Victoria Boys depicted by my father. My father was a timber merchant and regularly visited the forests and hills for the auction purpose. Since my childhood, he fondly described me his experiences from the attack of wild animals to his negotiations with dacoits...

Why do you love Manchester United?

I have faced this question many times in my life. The thing is, it’s like asking your lover, “Why do you love me?” The answer to this question is never easy because you have no reason. It is an expression, a vow to never leave in ups as well as in downs, accepting all imperfections. You can like, love, support any club you like or any sport like once…..  King Eric Cantona said, “You can change your wife, change your politics, change your religion. But never can you change your favourite football team!” . In my case it is Manchester United. So, how come “I was not born in Manchester, but United was born in me!”  ? I come from a Bengali family, and like it is said in this corner of the world, “football runs through my veins!”. My father is a lifelong East Bengal fan. Let me end this here and go back to the topic in discussion. I was first introduced to the game of football at a tender age of 5, but to say the truth I didn’t understand any bit of it at that time, ev...

The Day which made My Life;My Interview Experience

The day had finally arrived, although not a significant one but for me its importance cannot be defined in words. The date was 23 rd August, 2016. On this day Shapoorji Pallonji Group visited our college campus for interview selection. As I had already cleared Aptitude Test round on 12 th August the same year, I was eligible for the Group Discussion round, clearing which will give me an opportunity to face my first ever Job Interview. On the previous night, I had many difficulties in sleeping, in fact, I just slept for an hour. A thought passed by my mind, “Dreams are those which doesn’t let you sleep!” Moreover owing to the inability to sleep, I was thinking of…What if I fail? What if I succeed?. At 6 o’clock, Baral, my roomie was still awake, not due to any tension or something like that, but he is habituated to sleep late. I rudely kicked him out of his bed although not literally and suggested him to accompany me to the nearby tea-shop, to have a cup of tea and biscuits. On ou...
